A human rights activist, Harrison Gwamnishu, has raised a public alarm over the disappearance of fashion entrepreneur Evelyn Onyema, founder and chief executive of the clothing brand 44 Clothing.

Gwamnishu said in posts on X and Instagram on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, that Onyema had not been heard from for two days. Her last known location was Bonny Camp in Lagos State.

He said she was last seen in the area with her boyfriend, identified only as Derrick. In one post he wrote that she was last seen "in distressed" around Bonny Camp.

Gwamnishu shared a WhatsApp number for anyone with useful information and appealed directly to the Nigeria Police Force, asking residents and workers around Bonny Camp to help in the search.

In a follow-up post, he said Onyema's mobile phones had been tracked and physically recovered. He told people who had suggested tracking her lines that the devices had already been found, but that she herself was still missing.

As of Wednesday morning, the police had issued no official update on her whereabouts, and there was no independently verified account of what happened to her.

Who is Evelyn Onyema?

Onyema is known for building 44 Clothing, which operated in Asaba, Delta State, before she moved the business to Lagos earlier in 2026.

She has a following on social media, where she shares her designs. Posts online suggest she had spoken about the challenges of settling into life in Lagos, and earlier discussions pointed to business difficulties in recent months. Nothing verified has linked those reports to her disappearance.

Her case has drawn wide concern online, with friends, followers and strangers sharing appeals for information and praying for her safe return. Some users urged the police to look closely into her last known movements.

What happens next

Anyone with credible information on Onyema's whereabouts is asked to report to the nearest police station and to contact her family or the team coordinating the search.

Gwamnishu's team said it was heading to Bonny Camp to join the search. Members of the public have been urged to avoid spreading unverified claims about the case while checks continue.
