What we collect

The Naija Breaking app creates a random identifier for your device. With it we record which stories you open, how long you read, which alerts you open, and which ads were shown and what they earned. We use this to choose stories and alerts for you and to decide how often ads appear. We do not ask for your name, phone number or contacts.

Ads

Ads are served by Google AdMob and its partner networks, which may use your device's advertising ID. When the app first opens you are asked whether ads may be personalised; you can change that choice in Settings at any time. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings.

Notifications

If you allow alerts, we store your device's push token to send them. Turn alerts off in the app's Settings or your phone's settings.

Your rights

Under Nigeria's Data Protection Act 2023 you can ask us to show or delete the data linked to your device. Email privacy@naijabreaking.site with the device code shown in the app's Settings.

Retention

Reading records are kept for up to 13 months, then deleted.
