APC campaign council adds stage directorate, names youth and women mobilisation leads
- The APC Presidential Campaign Council has created a Directorate of Stage Organisation and Management ahead of the 2027 election.
- Farouk Adamu Aliyu will head the new directorate, with Adejare Bello as co-director.
- Ayo Olawande now leads youth mobilisation and Mary Aille Idele leads women mobilisation.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has created a new Directorate of Stage Organisation and Management and changed the leadership of its youth and women mobilisation wings, as it prepares for the 2027 presidential election.
Hope Uzodimma, the Imo State Governor and Secretary of the campaign council, announced the changes in a statement on Tuesday. He said they were meant to strengthen the council's structure, coordination and day-to-day running.
The council is working to return President Bola Tinubu for a second term in 2027.
Who got what
Farouk Adamu Aliyu, a former minority leader of the House of Representatives, will head the new Directorate of Stage Organisation and Management. Adejare Bello, a former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, is co-director.
The Minister of Youth Development, Ayo Olawande, now leads the Directorate of Youth Mobilisation, with Dayo Israel as deputy.
Mary Aille Idele heads the Directorate of Women Mobilisation. Betta Edu is deputy director, and Imaan Suleman is secretary.
According to the statement, the reshuffle is part of the council's push for what Uzodimma called a well-coordinated, inclusive and results-driven campaign structure. He said the appointees are expected to use their experience to mobilise Nigerians, especially young people and women.
The council also asked the new appointees to work with other directorates and campaign structures so that its mobilisation plans are carried out effectively.
Why it matters
Youth and women make up a large share of Nigeria's voting population, and parties often lean on these wings to reach voters at rallies, in markets and on social media. How well the APC runs that ground operation could shape its reach in 2027.
For ordinary Nigerians, the bigger questions remain the cost of living, fuel prices, jobs and security, which are likely to dominate the campaign. The council did not say in the statement when the new directorate will begin work or what budget it will run on.
Both outlets that reported the announcement carried the same list of appointees and the same reasons given by the council.
What happens next
The appointees are expected to settle into their roles as campaign preparations gather pace ahead of the 2027 general election. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has not yet released the final timetable for the polls.
