APC diaspora group says Tinubu will win big in Edo in 2027

The gist
  • An APC diaspora media group says President Tinubu will win decisively in Edo in 2027.
  • It cites Governor Okpebholo's record, 50 CNG buses and a ₦1bn women's empowerment scheme.
  • The group also claims over 500 former cult members now campaign for the APC.

A group within the All Progressives Congress says President Bola Tinubu will win a decisive victory in Edo State in the 2027 general election, pointing to Governor Monday Okpebholo's record and federal projects in the state.

The APC Media Diaspora Group made the claim in a statement by its coordinator, Eghosa Ohuimumwen, who is also a member of the party's New Media Presidential Campaign Council.

The group said Edo residents would reward the President at the polls for easing transport problems through the recent launch of 50 Compressed Natural Gas buses. It also cited a ₦1bn empowerment programme it said lifted 5,000 women out of poverty.

Ohuimumwen said more than 500 former cult members who renounced cultism and received support from the governor are now campaigning for Tinubu's re-election.

"Edo people are feeling the impact of practical governance under Okpebholo," he said, adding that residents "will show appreciation at the polling units."

He said the 2.5 million votes promised by the governor would be achieved because, in his words, there are no viable opposition parties in the state. He also said the governor had delivered across sectors and that opposition parties would be "shellacked" at the polls.

What happens next

The claims are the group's own assessment; no figures were given for how the 2.5 million votes would be verified, and the sources did not say when the buses were launched or how the empowerment money was shared.

For ordinary Edo residents, the argument rests on transport costs and small business support, both of which affect daily spending. The 2027 vote is still more than a year away, and the state's opposition parties have not responded to the group's claims in these reports.
