ASR Africa hands over ₦250m admin block to UDUS health college in Sokoto

The Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa) don hand over one newly built administrative block wey worth ₦250 million to the College of Health Sciences of Usmanu Danfodiyo University (UDUS) in Sokoto.
Dem commission the building, wey dem name Abdul Samad Rabiu Admin Block, on Tuesday at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH) complex, according to Leadership.
E get 20 staff offices, including the office of the departmental head, one panel room, staff conveniences and storage space. The university talk say the block go give lecturers and researchers more room to work.
Why e matter for medical students
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Bashir Garba, talk say the facility already dey useful when the university go through accreditation by the Medical and Dental Council. He talk say e cover part of the infrastructure wey the council need to see.
Garba describe the donation as historic and thank ASR Africa's chairman, Abdul Samad Rabiu, for wetin he call years of philanthropy. He promise say the university go put the building to good use.
“I want to assure ASR Africa and its Chairman... that we will make the best use of this edifice,” Garba talk.
For students wey dey train as doctors and health workers in Sokoto, accreditation no be small matter. If school fail or struggle to renew am, e fit face limits on admissions and on the value of im certificates. Part of a wider grant scheme
The Managing Director and CEO of ASR Africa, Dr Ubon Udoh, talk say the project na one of 30 grants to 30 universities in Nigeria. He talk say UDUS score very high in the initiative's assessment.
Udoh talk say the donation show the commitment of Rabiu, wey chair BUA Group, to programmes in health, education and social development.
Dem set up ASR Africa in 2021 to fund homegrown solutions to development problems in health, education and social development across Africa.
