Bichi meets Kano APC lawmakers, 40 candidates to plan Tinubu and Yusuf's 2027 campaign
- Rep Abubakar Kabir Bichi hosted APC Kano Assembly members and 40 candidates in Bichi town on Sunday.
- He said the meeting was to harmonise campaign plans for President Tinubu, Governor Yusuf and other APC candidates.
- Bichi said Kano North stakeholders have resolved to deliver at least one million votes to Tinubu in 2027.
A federal lawmaker from Kano, Abubakar Kabir Bichi, met All Progressives Congress (APC) members of the Kano State House of Assembly and 40 party candidates on Sunday to plan the party's campaign for the 2027 general elections.
The closed-door meeting held at Bichi's office in Bichi Local Government Area, according to Tribune and PM News. The Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Jibril Ismail Falgore, led the lawmakers to the meeting.
Bichi, who represents Bichi Federal Constituency and chairs the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations, said the aim was to bring party members together and coordinate campaign activities for President Bola Tinubu, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and other APC candidates.
"Unity is our strength, and together we will deliver victory, Insha Allah," he said, thanking the Speaker and other participants for attending.
One million votes target
According to PM News, Bichi said political stakeholders in Kano North Senatorial District have resolved to deliver at least one million votes to Tinubu in 2027.
He argued that the North owes the President a debt of gratitude, pointing to road projects and other infrastructure approved for the region. He also recalled that former President Muhammadu Buhari would not have won in 2015 without Tinubu's support, and said it was time to repay that.
Bichi dismissed claims that Tinubu's policies are deliberately targeted at the North, calling such talk "insincere and politically motivated."
PM News reported that Bichi inaugurated the Kano North campaign council last week, where he highlighted infrastructure projects in Kano and the North as reasons for the President's reelection.
What happens next
The meeting is part of wider consultations by APC stakeholders in Kano ahead of the 2027 elections. PM News reported that Bichi said the party has resolved to deploy its collective commitment to the January and February 2027 contests.
For ordinary Nigerians, the coming months will bring more of these strategy sessions across parties, and with them promises about roads, jobs and prices. Whether those promises hold will only be clear after the votes are counted.
