- The team won ₦5 million and plans to expand the platform beyond their school.
A team of four senior secondary students from Caleb British International School (CBIS), Abijo, Lagos, has won this year's Zenith Bank Future Innovators Challenge, beating finalists from other schools across the country.
The students — Deborah Iweha, Makayla Inyere, Fife Alonge and Okeke Janelle — took first place at Zecathon 6.0 and received a ₦5 million grand prize.
The contest is run by Zenith Bank with Beyond Limits as part of the wider Zecathon 6.0 2026 programme. It is open to senior secondary schools and offers a combined ₦10 million to the top three schools.
What ReLearn does
The Caleb team built ReLearn, a digital platform that finds new homes for textbooks that would otherwise sit unused at home once a school session ends.
The students said they developed the idea after carrying out their own research with parents, looking at how much families spend on educational materials.
Iweha said the platform helps families spend less and makes sure no child goes to school without the right set of books. Alonge said it lets children in underserved communities get quality learning materials at a fraction of the market price.
The project speaks to three United Nations Sustainable Development Goals: Quality Education, Reduced Inequalities and Responsible Consumption.
With the prize money, the team hopes to take ReLearn beyond CBIS and put thousands more textbooks into the hands of Nigerian students.
School celebrates
Dr. Oladega Adebogun, Director of the Caleb Group of Schools, said the students had represented the school well. He described the win as proof of the school's spending on ICT learning hubs, technology labs and audiovisual facilities.
He thanked parents, management and staff, calling the victory one for the whole school community.
It has been a strong year for the group, which has campuses in Lekki, Magodo and the Lagos Mainland. At the British Council Recognition and Outstanding Learner Awards 2026, Akota-Chika Serena of CBIS Magodo was named Best-in-the-World in IGCSE English, while Adekimi Tolulope Israel of CBIS Lekki took Best-in-the-World in IGCSE Mathematics.
The winning team thanked Head of School Ms. Colette O'Hehir, Principal Mr. Kasimu Rabiu and Deputy Principal Mr. Oluwabunkumi Ogbowa, among others. They were coached by mentors of the school's Young Entrepreneurs Club, led by coordinator Mr. Israel Adewuyi, and by Head of Competition Mr. Awoyemi Samuel.
What happens next: The team says it will use the ₦5 million to grow ReLearn and reach students in more schools.
