Chukwueze faces weeks out as Milan wait on hip scan results
- Samuel Chukwueze missed AC Milan training on Wednesday morning because of discomfort in his left hip.
- Milan fear the Nigeria winger could be out for several weeks, or longer, pending a specialist examination.
- The injury would leave Milan short on the wing, with Alexis Saelemaekers already out after ankle surgery.
Samuel Chukwueze could be out of action for several weeks after picking up a hip problem, with AC Milan waiting on a specialist examination to learn how serious it is.
The Nigeria winger missed Milan's training session on Wednesday morning, according to reports in Italy. He is said to have felt discomfort in his left hip.
Milan are preparing for a UEFA Europa League match against Bournemouth, the Premier League club, and Chukwueze was not part of the session.
Why Milan are worried
Sport Mediaset reported that Chukwueze was due to see a specialist on Wednesday to establish the extent of the injury. Milan fear the problem could keep him out for weeks, and possibly months.
The 27-year-old has started the season well under coach Ruben Amorim since returning from a loan spell at Fulham. He has two assists in eight appearances in all competitions for the Serie A side.
His possible absence adds to Milan's problems on the flanks. Alexis Saelemaekers is already out after ankle surgery and is expected to miss at least five months.
What happens next
The specialist's assessment will decide how long Chukwueze stays out. For now, Milan can only wait, and Nigerian fans will be watching closely.
Chukwueze is a regular in the Super Eagles setup, and a long layoff would be a concern for the national team as well as his club.
