  • Delta APC's campaign media committee was unveiled in Asaba on Monday.
  • Chairman Charles Aniagwu said the party will campaign on Tinubu and Oborevwori's records.
  • He urged politicians to report suspected rigging to security agencies, not take the law into their own hands.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has unveiled the media and publicity team for its 2027 campaign council, pledging to run a campaign built on records and policies rather than personal attacks.

The committee's chairman, Charles Aniagwu, presented the members to journalists in Asaba on Monday. They are Valentine Onojeguo (vice chairman), Timi Tonye (secretary), Festus Ahon, Kelly Okolugbo and Jackson Ekwugum.

Aniagwu said the team will promote the performance of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, and will also speak for every APC candidate running for the State House of Assembly, House of Representatives and Senate.

"We will stay with the issues," he said, adding that the party would present its report card to voters.

Warning against violence

The briefing came days after former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege, now the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Delta Central Senatorial District, warned at his campaign flag-off in Uvwie that anyone who rigs the 2027 election "will die".

Asked about that remark, Aniagwu said violence and threats have no place in the APC's campaign. He urged political leaders to watch their public statements and said anyone who suspects malpractice should report it to security agencies instead of acting on their own.

"Delta State is not a jungle republic," he said, warning that inflammatory talk can push supporters into jungle justice.

He said the state government will not tolerate violence "irrespective of the divide anybody belongs to", and repeated the governor's position that nobody is above the law.

"We will not get involved in rigging elections. We will show our report card," Aniagwu said.

Economy and next steps

Aniagwu acknowledged the economic hardship Nigerians are facing, saying the committee will not pretend the difficulties are not real. He argued that some government policies need more time to show results, and said the campaign will point to work in roads, healthcare, education, housing and security.

For ordinary Deltans, the message is that the party wants to be judged on prices, jobs and public services rather than on attacks between rivals.

The committee is expected to begin taking the party's message to voters across the state as the 2027 electioneering season gathers pace.
