Delta gives its premium Delta One cabin a major upgrade, starting from Los Angeles

The gist
  • Delta Air Lines has announced a wide redesign of its Delta One premium cabin, covering dining, service and rest.
  • The upgrade begins this autumn on transoceanic Delta One flights leaving Los Angeles and spreads network-wide in early 2027.
  • New menus, tableware and drinks include a Wagyu beef burger, Champagne Taittinger and Blanton's bourbon from December 1.

Delta Air Lines is giving its Delta One premium cabin a major overhaul, which it describes as one of its largest investments and most sweeping redesigns in nearly 30 years. The airline said the changes focus on dining, hospitality and rest.

The upgrade starts this autumn on transoceanic Delta One routes leaving Los Angeles International Airport, where Delta says it offers more premium seats than any other airline. It will then expand across the airline's global network in early 2027.

Delta said the redesign was shaped by two decades of customer feedback and builds on more than $1 billion already spent on its fleet.

What changes for travellers

Food is at the centre of the refresh. The new menu includes a Delta One Wagyu beef burger, roasted sea bass, braised lamb, beef short rib and a seasonally rotating risotto. Familiar favourites such as macaroni and cheddar cheese stay, alongside new mid-flight meal options.

Delta worked with chef Simon Hulstone and Master Sommelier Andrea Robinson on the food and drinks, with input from chefs Norio Ueno and Jereme Leung for regional dishes. Tableware has also been redesigned with the airline's widget logo, with each piece made to improve presentation and use on board.

The drinks list includes a new wine selection curated with Robinson and SkyMiles members, featuring Napa Valley labels and international wines. Champagne Taittinger will appear more often, including on domestic Delta One flights.

  • Blanton's single-barrel bourbon will be available from December 1, 2026.
  • DASSAI 45 sake will be served on flights to and from Tokyo-Haneda from November 3, 2026.

Ranjan Goswami, Delta's Chief Marketing and Product Officer, said the reimagined experience is "rooted in solving real customer needs and desires, with intentionality behind every detail." He said the investment is meant to deliver what the airline calls the industry's most premium end-to-end travel experience.

Kristen Manion Taylor, Delta's Senior Vice President of Brand Experience, said luxury is about having the experience designed around you, adding that today's premium traveller values choice as much as quality. She said hospitality has always been Delta's greatest differentiator and that it starts with the airline's people.

Why it matters for Nigerian travellers

Delta does not fly direct between Nigeria and the United States, so most Nigerian passengers reach Delta One through connections, often via Europe or the US. A better premium cabin on long-haul routes could matter to business travellers and families paying for comfort on the long leg of a trip.

Delta has also previously said Nigeria is among the countries where passengers can enjoy free Wi-Fi on its flights. The airline has not said whether the full Delta One redesign will reach every route Nigerians use, or when. For now, the rollout begins in Los Angeles and is set to widen in early 2027.
