  • The EFCC has opened its 2026 recruitment portal for detective and professional roles.
  • Applicants need qualifications ranging from five O'level credits to university degrees.
  • The commission says applying is free and warns against agents demanding money.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has opened its recruitment portal for 2026, inviting Nigerians to apply for jobs across four broad categories. The agency says the application is free of charge.

The openings range from detective roles for school certificate and diploma holders to professional and skilled positions for graduates with experience. Applications are made online through the commission's official portal.

The positions and who can apply

There are three detective cadres. The Detective Superintendent post (Assistant Superintendent of EFCC II, GL 08) needs a bachelor's degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) plus a valid NYSC discharge or exemption certificate. Applicants must be between 18 and 30 years old.

The Detective Inspector role (Inspector of EFCC II, GL 06) requires a National Diploma (ND) or National Certificate in Education (NCE), with an age limit of 18 to 27.

The Detective Assistant post (Detective Assistant II, GL 04) needs at least five credit passes in WAEC, NECO, GCE or NABTEB, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in no more than two sittings. Applicants must be 18 to 25.

The fourth category covers professionals and skilled workers aged 18 to 40. Fields listed include medicine, pharmacy, law, nursing, medical laboratory science and engineering. The commission also lists human resources, financial analysis, media and publicity, policy analysis, legal services, research, monitoring and evaluation, library services, ICT, driving, administrative and clerical work, and estate surveying and valuation.

Graduates in this category also need an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate, and membership of a relevant professional body is an added advantage.

General rules and how to apply

All applicants must be Nigerian citizens with basic computer skills, and must declare their qualifications. They must be medically fit, with evidence from a government-approved hospital, have no criminal record and no tattoos, and show good character.

Cadet applicants must be single. Men must be at least 1.67 metres tall and women at least 1.64 metres. A valid national driver's licence is an added advantage for professional and skilled roles.

To apply, visit the official portal, choose the position that matches your qualifications, read the requirements, fill the form accurately and review it before submitting. Keep a copy of the completed form, as shortlisted candidates may be asked to present printed copies at screening.

The recruitment information says applications are expected within one week of the exercise starting, but no exact closing date was given. Candidates should confirm the dates on the portal.

The EFCC warned applicants against anyone demanding money for recruitment help, saying the process is free. It advised candidates to rely only on its official portal and to avoid unauthorised agents promising jobs.
