The gist
  • EY Nigeria will hold its Audit Committee Transformation Summit on November 11 at The Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.
  • The event will bring together board members, finance chiefs, regulators and audit leaders to discuss governance and reporting risks.
  • Organisers say the summit aims to help companies tighten oversight and keep investor trust.

EY Nigeria will gather audit committee members, board directors, finance chiefs and regulators in Lagos on November 11 for a summit on how companies watch their books and manage risk.

The Audit Committee Transformation Summit, themed "Shaping High-Performing Audit Committees", will hold at The Civic Centre on Victoria Island, according to statements from the firm reported by BusinessDay and ThisDay.

The timing matters for ordinary Nigerians because weak oversight at companies and banks can hide losses, delay dividends for small shareholders and shake confidence in the wider market. Stronger audit committees are meant to catch problems early, before they cost jobs or savings.

What the summit will cover

EY said the event will look at the changing duties of audit committees and how they can respond to new risks and tighter regulations. Discussions will touch on corporate governance, financial reporting, compliance and how firms stay resilient when the business climate shifts.

In a statement, the firm said the summit would offer a platform for sharing practical insights on emerging risks, regulatory developments and leading governance practices. It said the aim is to deepen understanding of governance and reporting issues and encourage dialogue among audit committee members, business leaders and regulators.

EY also said it wants to strengthen collaboration across the governance ecosystem and reinforce the role audit committees play in promoting transparency, accountability and long-term value creation.

Those expected include audit committee chairs and members, board chairs and directors, chief financial officers and finance directors, chief audit executives, internal audit leaders, and chief risk and compliance officers. Regulators and professionals in governance, risk, accounting and assurance are also invited.

EY describes itself as a global professional services firm offering assurance, tax, strategy and transactions, and consulting services.

What happens next

The summit holds on November 11, 2026. Nigerians with shares or savings in listed companies may want to watch what governance changes come out of such gatherings, since audit committees sit at the point where financial problems are either caught or missed.
