Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has approved the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign council for Adamawa State, with himself and the head of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Mohammed Buba Marwa, named as joint chairmen.

The announcement was made in a statement on Sunday by the governor's Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou. Fintiri chairs the council as the party's leader in the state, while Marwa, a retired major general, serves as co-chairman.

Deputy Governor Kaletapwa George Farauta is Deputy Chairman I, and the party's governorship candidate in the state, Ahmed Galadima Aminu, is Deputy Chairman II.

Titus Solomon will serve as Director General of the campaign council, with Peter Kevin as Campaign Director, according to the statement.

Why it matters

The council will coordinate the campaigns of APC candidates in Adamawa, from the presidential election down to House of Assembly races. Its members include party stalwarts, stakeholders, and youth and women leaders drawn from all 21 local government areas of the state.

The statement said the spread reflects the party's commitment to inclusivity down to the grassroots. Fintiri urged members to work in unity and deliver victory for the APC at all levels in the 2027 general elections.

The Adamawa announcement comes a day after the party launched its presidential campaign in Kaduna.

For ordinary residents, the coming months will bring campaign activity across the state's 21 local government areas, with the council expected to set the pace for rallies and outreach ahead of the 2027 polls.

What happens next

The council is now expected to begin organising the party's campaigns in the state. The statement did not give a date for when activities will start.
