  • INEC has uploaded the preliminary voters' register for the 2027 elections to display.inecnigeria.org.
  • The online copy is the same list displayed physically at registration areas from October 9 to 15.
  • The final register of voters is due for certification and publication on December 15, 2026.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has put the preliminary voters' register for the 2027 general elections online, after Nigerians and other stakeholders asked for easier access to the list.

The register can now be viewed at display.inecnigeria.org. It is the same list that was displayed at registration areas nationwide from October 9 to 15, 2026.

INEC announced the move in a statement on Monday signed by Mohammed Kudu Haruna, the national commissioner who chairs its Information and Voter Education Committee.

Haruna said the commission had noted the concerns raised about making the register available online in addition to the physical display. He said the online copy is meant to support transparency, accessibility and public confidence in the electoral process.

The physical display was carried out under Section 19 of the Electoral Act, 2026, which gives registered voters the chance to check their details and file claims and objections.

What it means for voters

Anyone who registered can now check their name and details from a phone or computer instead of travelling to a registration area. That matters for Nigerians who live far from where they registered, and for those who could not reach the physical display within the one-week window.

INEC stressed that the online publication does not replace the physical exercise. It said the online copy is an additional step to widen access.

The commission said it is still working through the claims and objections raised during the display, in line with the Electoral Act, 2026.

What happens next

INEC said it will certify and publish the Final Register of Voters on December 15, 2026.

Haruna said the commission appreciates the interest and engagement of Nigerians and restated its commitment to transparency and accountability in delivering credible elections.
