The gist
  • Jaiz Bank's total assets rose 31.6% to ₦1.69tn by September 2026 from ₦1.29tn in December 2025.
  • Customer deposits stood at about ₦1.52tn, according to its unaudited nine-month results.
  • Gross earnings grew 16.1% to ₦88.16bn, but profit after tax rose only 1.8% to ₦23.28bn.

Jaiz Bank, Nigeria's first non-interest bank, grew its total assets to ₦1.69 trillion by the end of September 2026, up 31.6 per cent from ₦1.29 trillion in December 2025, according to its unaudited results for the nine months.

Customer deposits, made up of current accounts and unrestricted investment accounts, stood at about ₦1.52 trillion over the same period.

The figures matter for ordinary Nigerians because a bigger balance sheet means more money the bank can put into financing for businesses and households that avoid interest-based banking.

Earnings and profit

Gross earnings rose 16.1 per cent to ₦88.16 billion from ₦75.90 billion in the same period of 2025.

Profit before tax edged up to ₦23.69 billion from ₦23.29 billion, while profit after tax climbed to ₦23.28 billion from ₦22.88 billion — a rise of about 1.8 per cent.

Income from financing contracts jumped to ₦45.87 billion from ₦31.14 billion a year earlier, while income from investment activities contributed ₦38.14 billion.

The bank said the results reflect the contribution of its financing and investment activities to overall earnings.

Its financing book also expanded. Net financing assets rose to ₦305.25 billion from ₦246.77 billion at the end of December 2025, and net inventory financing increased to ₦92.45 billion from ₦61.78 billion.

Jaiz Bank said the growing balance sheet and sustained profit would support efforts to deepen customer relationships, widen access to non-interest financial services and provide financing to businesses in key sectors.

Both Tribune and ThisDay reported the same figures from the unaudited statements.
