- Governor Uba Sani's representative addressed corps members at the close of the 2026 Batch C Stream I orientation in Kaduna.
- Corps members were urged to use the state's free CNG bus service on more than 40 routes.
- The NYSC coordinator asked for better feeding and a state allowance for corps members.
Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has told National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members posted to the state to make use of the government's free compressed natural gas (CNG) bus service, which he said runs on more than 40 routes.
The governor spoke on Tuesday at the closing ceremony of the 2026 Batch 'C' Stream I orientation course at the NYSC temporary camp at Government College, Kaduna. He was represented by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Gloria Ibrahim.
According to the governor, the free buses are part of efforts to make transport accessible and affordable, and he encouraged the corps members to use them for safe travel during their service year.
Safety and welfare promises
Sani said his administration is committed to the welfare and security of corps members, pointing to recent renovation of hostels at the temporary camp as evidence of that commitment.
He advised them to stay security-conscious as they move to their Places of Primary Assignment (PPAs), and to respect the cultures and traditions of their host communities. He also asked them to identify local needs and start Community Development Service (CDS) projects that improve living conditions.
The governor appealed to public and private organisations to accept corps members posted to them and to look after their welfare.
Earlier, the NYSC Kaduna State Coordinator, Abubakar Bawa, praised the corps members for their discipline and participation during the three-week exercise. He urged them to report promptly to their PPAs and to keep in touch with their trainers under the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, which he said is meant to help them become self-reliant and employers of labour.
Bawa thanked the state government for supporting the scheme, especially the hostel renovation, but asked for more: better feeding during orientation courses and the introduction of state allowances for corps members.
What happens next
Corps members are expected to report to their PPAs once they receive their posting letters. Whether the state introduces an allowance, as the coordinator requested, has not been announced.
