  • The session is themed 'The Future is Local: Stimulating Grassroots Economies for Inclusive Growth'.
  • The club says the event aims to be a platform for engagement between business leaders, policy experts and public office holders.

The Lagos Country Club will hold its first policy dialogue on Friday, November 13, with Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma as keynote speaker and special guest, the club said in a statement.

The club's Secretary General, Mrs Damilola Ikpe, said the event is meant to be a platform for strategic engagement between business leaders, policy experts and public office holders.

The theme is "The Future is Local: Stimulating Grassroots Economies for Inclusive Growth", and the session will focus on economic decentralisation and community-driven development.

Uzodimma is expected to speak on sub-national economic development, enterprise creation and ways to expand local economic capacity for sustainable national growth.

Why it matters for ordinary Nigerians

Talk of grassroots economies touches everyday concerns: jobs, jobs in communities, small businesses, prices and how money reaches communities outside the big cities. States and local governments control many of the services Nigerians use daily, so how they raise and spend money matters.

The club's President, Mr Seyi Adewunmi, said the dialogue is meant to encourage practical public-private conversations on Nigeria's pressing economic opportunities.

According to the organisers, the event will bring together policymakers, industry leaders, business executives, academics and other stakeholders interested in the country's economic development.

What happens next

The dialogue is scheduled for Friday, November 13, at the Lagos Country Club.
