The money come from 556 complaints wey dem file against the distribution company between January and September 2026. LASCOPA resolve 528 of them, leaving 28 wey still dey go on — a resolution rate of about 95 per cent.

The agency General Manager and Chief Executive Officer, Afolabi Solebo, talk say the intervention dey in line with its mandate under the Lagos State Consumer Protection Law 2025, as amended.

How dem dey handle the complaints

Yusuf Musiliu, wey head LASCOPA Complaints and Mediation Department, talk say complaints dey come through online and offline channels and dem dey review am before the agency bring Ikeja Electric officials and the customers wey the matter affect together.

That stakeholders' parley dey hold on the last Thursday of every month, giving residents regular chance to raise unresolved disputes directly with the distribution company.

Musiliu urge customers wey get grievance to use the formal process instead of self-help, and to attach electricity bills, payment receipts and other evidence so dem go fit investigate and settle cases quick.

LASCOPA talk say residents fit report billing disputes, estimated billing, overbilling, supply problems and other alleged unfair practices through its toll-free helpline, 080 0005 2726, on weekdays, or by email at lasgcopa@gmail.com.

For the ordinary Lagos household, the figures show say a disputed bill no mean say you must pay am as dem charge am. Complaints wey get receipts fit lead to refund or credit adjustment on the account.

Wetin go happen next

Dem expect the 28 cases wey never resolve to come up at the monthly parley with Ikeja Electric, where customers and the company go discuss grievances and try to reach agreement.

LASCOPA talk say e go keep pushing for fairness, transparency and better service delivery in the electricity distribution sector.
