  • The event, tagged "Malaysia, Your Halal Gateway," holds at Tafawa Balewa Square in partnership with the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Nigerians will get a closer look at Malaysian halal products this November, as Malaysia Traders Market Nigeria Limited (MTM) leads a four-day exhibition at the 2026 Lagos International Trade Fair.

The exhibition, tagged "Malaysia, Your Halal Gateway," will hold at Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos. MTM is organising it with the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) as part of the fair's 40th edition.

According to MTM, the company will also unveil a digital marketplace during the event, aimed at connecting Malaysian manufacturers and service providers with Nigerian importers, distributors, retailers and investors.

Why it matters for Nigerian businesses

The halal market is growing worldwide, covering food, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and other goods prepared according to Islamic rules. For Nigerian traders, the exhibition offers a chance to meet Malaysian exporters directly rather than through middlemen.

MTM's founder and chief executive, Olawale Suleimon Ayinla, said the two countries already trade, but businesses on both sides could work more closely.

"Our objective is to help bridge that gap by creating practical connections between Malaysian products and the Nigerian market," he said.

He said Malaysia has built strong industries, including halal goods, while Nigeria offers a large consumer market and a busy community of entrepreneurs.

The exhibition is meant to give Malaysian manufacturers, exporters and service providers a platform to meet Nigerian institutional buyers and distributors face to face.

What happens next

The exhibition is scheduled for November as part of the fair. Nigerian traders interested in halal goods, distribution deals or the new digital marketplace can attend the four-day Malaysian showcase to meet the companies involved.

Details such as the exact dates within November and the full list of exhibitors were not disclosed in the reports.
