Niger Tornadoes and Barau FC shared the points in Minna on Friday, playing out a goalless draw in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matchday 11 fixture at the Bako Kontagora Stadium.
The result kept both teams' unbeaten runs going. Tornadoes, known as the Ikon Allah Boys, have now gone five league games without defeat, with three wins and two draws in that spell. Barau have stretched their own unbeaten run to four matches.
Chances were hard to come by for both sides in a tight contest, and neither could find the goal that would have settled it.
The point lifted Barau to fourth place on the NPFL table, while Tornadoes climbed to fifth.
What happens next
Tornadoes travel to face Bendel Insurance in their next league game, while Barau will host Shooting Stars.
Before the match, Tornadoes had been boosted by the return of Joseph Godfrey, Erickson Mendos and Moses Obioma from injury, giving the coaches more options. Nafiu Obalowu, however, was still unavailable after picking up an injury in the club's previous outing against Abia Warriors.
Barau forward Ahmadu Liman had spoken before kickoff about facing his former club. He told Barau FC TV it felt good to be back in Minna, where he played last season, and said the team came "on a mission at least to get the maximum points." The visitors had to settle for one point instead.
