Leaders of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Oyo State gathered in Lanlate, Ibarapa East Local Government Area, on Saturday to strengthen the party's structure in the zone ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Ibarapa APM Zonal Stakeholders' Meeting brought together party executives, political office holders, candidates and ward representatives from the three local government areas that make up Ibarapa.
Deputy Governor Bayo Lawal led the meeting. Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, was also there, along with the party's governorship candidate for 2027, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi.
Others in attendance included Dr. Nureni Adeniran, Director-General of the APM Presidential and Gubernatorial Campaign Council, and Hon. Peter Ojedokun, who represents Ibarapa North/Central State Constituency.
Also present were the party's candidates for Oyo South Senatorial District, Hon. Dhikrullah Stanley; Ibarapa North/Ibarapa Central Federal Constituency, Hon. Anthony Adepoju; and Ido/Ibarapa Federal Constituency, Hon. Adedeji Kolawole Sheu.
Two commissioners were at the meeting: Hon. Ademola Ojo (Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters) and Hon. Wasilat Adegoke (Youth and Sports).
What was said
According to Tribune, Lawal urged party leaders, candidates and members to close ranks and work together for the party's interests. He stressed unity, discipline and continued engagement with voters, and said some of the demands raised by stakeholders had been noted and would be acted on urgently.
Ogundoyin said the party was growing stronger and taking root in Ibarapa, and that unity and effective grassroots mobilisation would be key to building on that.
Adekanmbi called for a united front, saying collective effort would decide the party's fortunes in 2027. He also said the current Oyo State administration had laid a solid foundation for development, and that he would build on its achievements.
Stakeholders used the meeting to brief the deputy governor's delegation on the state of the party in Ibarapa and to present grievances, asking party leaders to step in.
What happens next
The party said it would act on the issues raised. For now, the focus is on holding the Ibarapa structure together across the zone's three councils and its wards as campaigning for 2027 draws closer.
