PZ Cussons shareholders approve ₦9.926bn dividend, ₦2.50 per share
- Shareholders of PZ Cussons Nigeria approved a final dividend of ₦9.926bn for the 2026 financial year at the company's 78th AGM in Abuja.
- Each shareholder will get ₦2.50 per ordinary share, with payment set for 6 November 2026.
- The board also introduced a scrip dividend option letting qualifying shareholders take new shares instead of cash.
Shareholders of PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc have approved a final dividend of ₦9.926bn for the 2026 financial year, the company said at its 78th Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Abuja.
The meeting held at Fraser Suites, according to Tribune, which put the date at Wednesday, 28 October 2026. Punch reported the AGM as having held "recently" without giving a date.
The payout works out to ₦2.50 for every ordinary share of 50 kobo, the Chair of the Board, Mrs Ifueko Omoigui Okauru, told shareholders. Payment is set for 6 November 2026.
For everyday Nigerians, the dividend matters less than the shelves: PZ Cussons makes Morning Fresh, Premier, Cussons Baby, Carex, Imperial Leather and Canoe, and also sells Haier Thermocool appliances. A company able to pay out after a hard trading year is one less likely to cut jobs or pull products.
Shares instead of cash
The board has also introduced a Scrip Dividend Scheme. Under it, qualifying shareholders can choose to take new ordinary shares in the company instead of all or part of their cash dividend.
Shareholders at the meeting approved moving the election deadline. Punch reported the extension as from 23 November 2026 to 4 November 2026; Tribune reported the same change. Punch also carried a line saying the final dividend of "N2.5m" would be paid on 6 November, which conflicts with the ₦2.50 per share figure given by both outlets and by the board chair.
Omoigui Okauru said the company had shown resilience and improved operating performance on the back of a restructured balance sheet.
Our performance is improving year-on-year, and we will continue to leverage our strategic operating model and a more stable macroeconomic environment to drive growth and create value for all stakeholders.
Chief Peter Essien, chairman of the Viewpoint Shareholders Association in Uyo, praised the board for the result in a tough business environment, citing growth in profit and revenue for the year ended 31 May 2026.
Honourable Patrick Ajudua, chairman of the New Dimension Shareholders Association, credited management with cutting the company's debt burden. He said equity moved from minus ₦17.3bn to plus ₦66.6bn. Tribune spelled his first name as "Patric".
What happens next
Shareholders who want shares rather than cash have until 4 November 2026 to make their election. Cash payments follow on 6 November 2026.
The board chair said the company remains focused on growth after the parent company finished a strategic review of its African businesses and chose to keep its Nigerian operation within the wider group.
