The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is expected in Abuja on Friday, 23 October 2026, to inaugurate the headquarters of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, a group working for President Bola Tinubu's re-election in 2027.

The movement's national coordinator, Comrade Sunday Adekanbi Asuku, announced the plan in a statement. He said the office will serve as a centre for coordinating the group's activities in the Federal Capital Territory and for its nationwide mobilisation.

The inauguration is expected to draw the movement's leaders, coordinators, supporters and other invited guests.

Who is behind the movement

The group says it is convened by High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, widely known as Tompolo, who is its Grand Patron.

Asuku said the opening would strengthen the group's push to build a grassroots network that can reach voters across the country. Its members say they take the President's message to households, markets, workplaces and religious centres, and also give residents room to raise their concerns.

According to the statement, the movement has been setting up state chapters and local government structures, and handing out vehicles and campaign materials to support its work.

It said it has distributed more than 300 campaign vehicles and equipment across states including Katsina, Borno, Kano, Taraba, Nasarawa, Kogi, Lagos, Oyo, Yobe, Bauchi, Kwara, Gombe and Ondo.

The breakdown it gave includes 34 vehicles in Katsina, where coordinators were inaugurated across the state's 34 local government areas, and 44 vehicles plus public-address equipment in Borno.

Kano received 50 vehicles for its 44 local government areas, while Taraba, Nasarawa and Kogi each got 25. Kwara received 34 vehicles at the launch of its state chapter in Ilorin, and Gombe and Ondo each got 26.

In Ondo, the statement said Tompolo urged coordinators to step up engagement with registered voters and to turn support for the President into votes at the polls.

What happens next

Friday's inauguration gives the movement a permanent base in the capital as it prepares for the 2027 general election. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has not yet set the official timetable for that election.

For ordinary Nigerians, the coming months will bring more of this kind of campaign activity — and with it, pressure on public figures and groups to explain how the government's policies, including the removal of the petrol subsidy and the resulting rise in prices, have affected daily life.
