Seyi Tinubu says City Boy Movement expanding nationwide ahead of 2027
- Seyi Tinubu, patron of the City Boy Movement, said the group is consolidating and expanding its structures nationwide.
- The movement says its mobilisation is aimed at supporting President Bola Tinubu's re-election in 2027.
- It says its activities have reached the South-East and states including Jigawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa and Taraba.
The City Boy Movement is expanding its structures across the country ahead of the 2027 general elections, its patron Seyi Tinubu has said.
In a statement issued on Friday by the movement's Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Arabinrin Aderonke, Tinubu said the group is building on existing structures, reaching deeper into communities and widening its presence nationwide.
The movement emerged during the 2023 election cycle as a youth-oriented mobilisation platform. It says its current push is aimed at supporting President Bola Tinubu's re-election in 2027.
Where the movement has been
According to the statement, the movement's activities have taken it to the South-East and to Jigawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa and Taraba states, among other parts of the country, with engagements reaching local communities.
Seyi Tinubu, a lawyer and entrepreneur who founded the advertising firm Loatsad Promomedia, said the task ahead requires focus and collective responsibility.
He said the movement's progress would depend not just on how visible it is, but on the strength of its organisation and the commitment of its members.
"City Boy is not a movement of empty declarations," he said, adding that the group is mobilising and means business.
What happens next
The 2027 general election is still more than a year away, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has not announced a final timetable for party primaries and campaigns.
For now, the movement says it will keep expanding its grassroots network. How much of that network turns into votes will only be clear when the campaigns proper begin.
