The gist
  • TECNO has launched the CAMON Slim in Nigeria, a 6.39mm phone built around style and easy sharing.
  • It can send files to compatible iPhones through a Tap to Share feature.
  • The phone packs a 5600mAh battery, 60W charging and a 50MP night camera.

TECNO has launched a new phone in Nigeria, the CAMON Slim, and the company is selling it on looks as much as specs. The device is just 6.39mm thin with a curved body, and TECNO is marketing it under the tagline "Too Slim to Ignore."

The phone comes in Jungle Green, Burgundy Red, Prism Black and Mondrian. It also has a light strip on the back, which TECNO calls an AI Mood Light, that flashes patterns for calls, notifications and charging.

What it can do

The standout feature for many buyers may be Tap to Share. According to TECNO, it lets the CAMON Slim send photos, videos and files directly to compatible iPhones, cutting out the usual back-and-forth when sharing between Android and iPhone.

The camera is a 50MP Sony LYTIA 600 Ultra Night Camera, which TECNO says is built for low-light shots such as evening outings and concerts.

Despite the slim frame, the phone carries a 5600mAh battery with 60W fast charging. TECNO says the battery has five-year durability technology. The screen is a 1.5K 144Hz AMOLED display, and the phone is rated IP68 and IP69 for dust and water resistance.

TECNO is also offering 0% interest on EasyBuy in select stores until stock runs out, according to the launch materials.

Why it matters

For many Nigerians, a phone is both a work tool and a status item, and Android brands have long competed mainly on price and battery life. TECNO is now pitching design and cross-platform sharing as reasons to pick its device over rivals.

The sources did not disclose the price of the CAMON Slim or give a specific date for when it reaches stores beyond the launch announcement.
