- President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on his 59th birthday.

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on his 59th birthday, praising his infrastructure projects and efforts to keep peace in the state.
The President's message came in a statement on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. Fintiri marks his birthday on October 27.
Tinubu said he admired the governor's peace-building work and his push to give everyone in Adamawa a voice.
“I admire his peace-building initiatives and efforts to give everyone in the state a voice,” the President said.
He also commended Fintiri's empowerment schemes for small-scale entrepreneurs, along with programmes in agriculture and youth development. The President described him as a formidable force in Adamawa politics and wished him good health and more achievements.
From Speaker to governor
Fintiri held several leadership positions in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, including Speaker, before he was elected governor in 2019. He won re-election in 2023.
For ordinary Adamawa residents, the President's tribute touches on things that shape daily life: roads and public works, support for small traders, farm programmes and jobs for young people. Peace-building matters too in a state that has seen its share of security troubles over the years.
The statement did not give details of specific projects, amounts spent or new promises. It was a birthday message, not a policy announcement, so there is nothing new for residents to expect from it directly.
What happens next will depend on whether the state government builds on the programmes the President praised. For now, the message stands as public recognition from the Presidency of the governor's record in office.
