Ogechukwu Elumelu, the eldest daughter of businessman and philanthropist Tony Elumelu, has completed a Master of Science degree at the University of Oxford. She also finished a law conversion course, her father said.

Elumelu announced the news in a post on his X account on Saturday, describing the two results as major milestones and saying he was proud of her. He also shared a video of the two of them celebrating.

“Oxford MSc Graduation and Law Conversion Completed! Two major milestones. One incredible TOEGirl! Congratulations, Oge. So proud of you!”

Ogechukwu, who is also known as Tamara-Marie Oge Elumelu, is the daughter of Tony Elumelu and his wife, Dr Awele Elumelu. Before Oxford, she studied Politics and Philosophy at the London School of Economics and Political Science, where she graduated with honours.

From the classroom to the jobs fair

Beyond her studies, Ogechukwu hosts a podcast called Africa & Everywhere: Conversations with Oge, where she speaks with African entrepreneurs, business leaders and people working for change on the continent.

Earlier this year she organised the Africa & Everywhere Festival in Lagos. The event was a careers and internship fair meant to link young Nigerians with jobs and professional openings.

That focus on youth employment echoes the work of her father, whose Tony Elumelu Foundation has long backed young African entrepreneurs with funding and training.

For many Nigerian families, a child's graduation abroad is a proud moment, though the cost of study in the United Kingdom is out of reach for most households. The naira's weakness against the pound has made UK tuition and living costs even steeper in recent years.

Neither Ogechukwu nor her father has said what she plans to do next with the law qualification.
