ADC campaign council disowns unsigned timetable circulating online
- The African Democratic Congress presidential campaign council says a campaign timetable in circulation is not from it.
- Its media director, Kola Ologbondiyan, urged members and Nigerians to disregard the document.
- The council asked supporters to wait for official word on campaign dates and activities.
The African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council (ADC-PCC) has disowned a campaign timetable that has been circulating, saying the document did not come from the council or its campaign office.
In a statement signed by its Director of Media and Publicity, Kola Ologbondiyan, the council described the timetable as unauthorised and asked party members, leaders and other stakeholders to ignore it.
“The purported timetable is unauthorised and should not be regarded as an official campaign schedule,” the statement said, according to Tribune.
The council did not say who produced the document or where it first appeared. It also did not give any dates for its own campaign activities.
Why it matters
Nigeria's political calendar is closely watched, and any timetable linked to a party can shape travel plans, rallies and the expectations of supporters in the states. A fake or unofficial schedule can send members to events that never happen, or make it look as though a campaign has started when it has not.
The council asked Nigerians, ADC members and other stakeholders to wait for official communication from the ADC-PCC before acting on any campaign dates.
It is not clear when that official schedule will be released. The council gave no timeline in its statement.
What happens next
Supporters should treat any timetable they see online or in messages as unconfirmed until the ADC-PCC announces one through its official channels. The council has promised to communicate its campaign activities and dates itself.
