APM's Ajadi backs Oluyole LG chairman Akeem Olatunji for House of Reps
- APM chieftain Olufemi Ajadi endorsed Akeem Olatunji at his campaign flag-off in Oluyole, Oyo State.
- Ajadi said Olatunji's local government experience and grassroots ties make him the best candidate.
- Olatunji, Oluyole LG chairman, is seeking the Oluyole Federal Constituency seat in 2027.
Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo has thrown his weight behind Engr. Akeem Olatunji's bid for the Oluyole Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, describing the local government chairman as the best person for the job.
Ajadi spoke on Friday, November 6, 2026, at the flag-off of Olatunji's campaign in Oluyole Local Government Area of Oyo State, according to Tribune and PM News. The event drew party leaders, stakeholders and supporters as the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) candidate formally began his push towards the 2027 general elections.
Olatunji currently serves as Executive Chairman of Oluyole Local Government. He is now seeking to move from council administration to the National Assembly.
Why Ajadi says Olatunji is the right pick
Speaking with journalists, Ajadi said Olatunji's time running the council and his closeness to residents had given him a clear grasp of what the constituency needs.
"His experience in local government administration and connection with the grassroots give him an understanding of the needs and aspirations of the people," Ajadi said.
He urged voters to look past campaign promises and judge candidates on their track records in public service and their commitment to the welfare of the people.
Ajadi also expressed confidence that Olatunji, if elected, would carry Oluyole's concerns to the National Assembly and work to attract development to the area.
He called on APM members and supporters to stay united and keep mobilising at the grassroots, saying that unity and sustained engagement with voters would be key to the party's chances.
What happens next
The flag-off marks the start of Olatunji's campaign for the constituency seat. The 2027 general elections are still some months away, and the APM will need strong grassroots mobilisation to compete. For residents of Oluyole, the coming months will bring more campaign events and, eventually, the chance to weigh the candidates' records at the ballot.
