Bournemouth beat 10-man Milan 3-0 for third straight Europa League win
- Bournemouth defeated AC Milan 3-0 after Milan captain Mike Maignan was sent off early.
- Justin Kluivert and Marcus Tavernier scored first-half penalties, and Amine Adli added a late free-kick.
- Juventus had an 88th-minute goal ruled out for offside in a 2-2 draw with Rennes.
Bournemouth made it three wins from three in their first Europa League campaign, beating AC Milan 3-0 at the Vitality Stadium on Thursday after the Italian side lost their captain and goalkeeper to an early red card.
Mike Maignan was sent off for a foul on Tyler Adams, leaving Milan a man down for most of the match. Justin Kluivert and Marcus Tavernier then converted first-half penalties to put the Premier League club in control.
Amine Adli sealed it with a free-kick in the 84th minute. Bournemouth had already won at Real Sociedad and beaten Sturm Graz 3-0 at home.
Kluivert said the run of results had given the team belief. "We trust ourselves. It doesn't matter who we play against," he told TNT Sports.
According to the AFP report carried by both outlets, Bournemouth are the first English club since Sunderland in 1973/74 to win their first three European fixtures. They will face Sparta Prague and Celta Vigo in November.
Juventus denied late, Sunderland held
Juventus thought they had come from behind to beat Rennes, but Jhon Lucumi's 88th-minute strike was ruled out for a marginal offside after a VAR review. The match in Turin ended 2-2.
Zeki Celik put Juve ahead after five minutes, but a poor clearance let Musa Al-Taamari equalise, and Boulaye Dia put Rennes in front before half-time. Nick Woltemade levelled from the penalty spot after a handball.
Sunderland, wearing a new all-pink kit, drew 1-1 in Poznan, Poland. The two outlets differ on when Timur Tutierov scored: one report says the second minute, the other says the second half. Either way, Sunderland dominated without adding a second goal. Regis Le Bris' side still have two home games left.
Bayer Leverkusen also have three wins from three after a Jonas Hofmann double earned a 2-0 victory at OFI Crete. Ferencvaros thumped Torreense 4-1 to stay level with them on nine points.
Union Saint-Gilloise beat Hapoel Be'er Sheva 4-0. Saint-Gilloise, Sunderland and Juventus all have seven points.
Crystal Palace drew 2-2 with Besiktas in Istanbul, while Celtic lost 2-1 to Celta Vigo, their third defeat in a row. Marseille lost 1-0 to Sturm Graz and Lyon were beaten 3-0 by Hoffenheim.
In the Conference League, former Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah scored a penalty in Trabzonspor's 2-0 win over Hearts. Brighton drew 0-0 at Jablonec, Monaco beat Freiburg 3-0 and Ajax won 2-0 against Atalanta.
What happens next
The league phase continues into November, when Bournemouth face Sparta Prague and Celta Vigo. Juventus and Sunderland will look to protect their seven-point starts as the table tightens.
