Iroegbunam says Hull City can shock Arsenal at the Emirates
- Tim Iroegbunam says Hull City will not travel to Arsenal just to make up the numbers.
- Hull have already drawn 2-2 with Chelsea and Ipswich this season.
- Arsenal, the Premier League leaders, host Hull at the Emirates on Saturday.
Hull City midfielder Tim Iroegbunam says his side will go to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday believing they can take something from Premier League leaders Arsenal.
The Tigers are back in the top flight and have shown they can mix it with the big sides. They held Chelsea to a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge earlier this season and drew 2-2 with Ipswich Town last time out, a game in which Iroegbunam scored his first Premier League goal.
Arsenal sit top of the table after beating Liverpool 1-0 last Sunday, and Mikel Arteta's men will be strong favourites on home turf. But Iroegbunam, speaking to Hull Live, said Hull are not making the trip to north London simply to fill the fixture list.
"That's one of those games where they're expected to win almost, so we'll just give it our all,"
he said. He added that Arsenal have been beaten before and that an upset is possible.
Why it matters
For Nigerian fans, the game is a chance to watch a homegrown midfielder test himself against the best. Iroegbunam also pointed to how open the English top flight can be, saying any team can beat any other on the day.
"We know they're a good side, but in the Premier League, anyone can beat anyone," he said. Hull, he insisted, will set out to win as they do in every match.
Arsenal's recent form has not been perfect, with a few surprising defeats in cup and league games, and Hull will hope to catch them on an off day.
What happens next
Kick-off is Saturday afternoon at the Emirates. A win for Hull would rank among the surprises of the season so far; a point would still boost their confidence as they settle back into the Premier League.
