- Noah Okafor came off the bench in the 77th minute and scored two minutes later to give Leeds a 1-0 win over Tottenham.
- Leeds escaped punishment when Jayden Bogle's studs challenge on Mathys Tel went unpunished after a VAR check.
- The result ends Tottenham's three-match league winning run and is Leeds' first victory in six games.
Leeds beat Tottenham 1-0 at home on Saturday, with substitute Noah Okafor scoring the only goal two minutes after coming on.
The win ends Tottenham's run of three straight league victories. For Leeds, it is a first win in six games, and it lifts them to eighth in the table.
Leeds manager Daniel Farke brought on Okafor in the 77th minute. Harry Wilson, another substitute, then controlled the ball and slipped it into Okafor's path, and the forward gave goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky no chance in the 79th minute.
The Bogle tackle that went unpunished
Leeds had luck on their side about ten minutes before half-time. Jayden Bogle caught Tottenham winger Mathys Tel's trailing ankle with his studs, leaving Tel on the ground in pain.
After a lengthy VAR check, no action was taken against Bogle. He was not even booked. Tel could not continue and was replaced by Dominic Solanke a few minutes later.
Earlier, Tottenham had a scare when VAR ruled that Mateus Fernandes had not handled the ball in the Leeds penalty area. The visitors settled as the first half went on, but clear chances were few.
Leeds pushed forward after the break. Dominic Calvert-Lewin's header was blocked by Solanke, and Nico Elvedi nodded the follow-up wide. Calvert-Lewin then broke forward again but passed to Ao Tanaka instead of shooting, and Tanaka sent his effort over the bar.
Kinsky made a fine save from Sean Longstaff's swivel and shot before Okafor finally broke the deadlock.
Tottenham came close to an equaliser, but Leeds goalkeeper James Trafford made a brilliant save from Jan Paul van Hecke's header.
For Nigerian fans who follow the Premier League, the result tightens the race in the middle of the table, where a single win or loss can move a club several places.
What happens next
Both clubs return to league action in their next fixtures, with Tottenham looking to restart their winning run and Leeds hoping the result sparks a steadier spell.
