Jobe Bellingham joins brother Jude in England squad for first time
- Jobe Bellingham has been named in Thomas Tuchel's England squad alongside older brother Jude for the first time.
- Fulham teenager Josh King got a first call-up, while Cole Palmer was left out of the squad.
- England face Croatia and Spain in Nations League games this month, needing one point to reach the quarter-finals.
Jobe Bellingham will line up in the same England squad as his older brother Jude for the first time, after coach Thomas Tuchel named both in his list for this month's Nations League games against Croatia and Spain.
Jobe, a midfielder at Borussia Dortmund, has been rewarded for a strong start to his second season in Germany. Jude played three seasons at Dortmund before joining Real Madrid.
Tuchel handed a first call-up to Fulham teenager Josh King, who has impressed even as Fulham struggle in the Premier League. Liverpool's 18-year-old winger Rio Ngumoha is also included.
Palmer left out
Chelsea's Cole Palmer misses out. Tuchel said Palmer "misses too many opportunities" to impress at international level, after the player pulled out of England's last squad through injury. Palmer was also not included for the World Cup.
With a place in the Nations League quarter-finals almost certain, Tuchel is using the window to look at younger players.
England sit second in Group A3 after four games, with three wins and one defeat, against Spain at Wembley. They host Croatia on Thursday — a side they beat 7-0 last month — before travelling to Spain. One point from the trip to Spain would send them into the knockout rounds in March.
Harry Kane, fresh from winning the Ballon d'Or, is set to become England's most-capped male player. He drew level with former goalkeeper Peter Shilton on 125 appearances in the last match against the Czech Republic.
What happens next
England play Croatia at home on Thursday, then face Spain away. The squad also includes Arsenal's Eberechi Eze, Declan Rice and Myles Lewis-Skelly, Real Madrid's Trent Alexander-Arnold and Barcelona's Anthony Gordon.
For Nigerian fans who follow the Premier League closely, the headline is the rise of young names like King and Ngumoha, and a Bellingham brothers pairing England hope will carry them through the group.
