Katung asks Southern Kaduna to back Tinubu and Uba Sani in 2027
- Senator Sunday Marshall Katung says President Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani deserve another term.
- He points to a ginger processing hub in Kachia and a planned light rail as proof of federal work.
- Katung says door-to-door campaigning, not rallies, will decide the 2027 vote in Southern Kaduna.
The senator representing Kaduna South, Sunday Marshall Katung, has urged voters in Southern Kaduna to give President Bola Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani another term in 2027, saying both have brought projects and a sense of inclusion to the zone.
Katung made the call while reviewing how the APC-led federal and state governments have performed in his district, in an interview with Invicta FM in Kaduna. Tribune reported that he spoke exclusively in Kaduna on Wednesday.
He said Kaduna matters to the president's Renewed Hope Agenda, pointing to the decision to open the APC's North-West campaign in the state. Katung recalled leading a delegation to see Tinubu about Kaduna issues as far back as 2007, alongside then Senator Caleb Zagi, and said the president listened.
Ginger hub and light rail
The senator named two federal projects he expects to change the local economy: a planned light rail and a $29.62 million ginger processing hub in Kachia. Tribune put the hub's value at about ₦40 billion.
He said the Kachia facility is already drawing investors. Land there, he said, sold for ₦300,000 a plot in November 2023, while the last five plots were going for ₦1.1 million each by February 2026.
"You can't go to Kachia today and ask what the President has done," Katung said.
He said residents tell him their lives have changed, and that Kafanchan and Manchok should see similar gains once the rail project begins, with jobs and trade along the way.
On the state government, Katung praised Uba Sani for what he called an open-door style of leadership. He said the governor has restored calm and brought projects to the zone, and that Southern Kaduna now feels part of Kaduna State in a way it had not for years.
Door-to-door, not rallies
Katung also defended the party's plan to meet voters house to house rather than depend on big rallies. He said rallies do not win elections, while sitting with people and hearing their needs does, and that town hall meetings were held for that reason.
He asked voters to keep the current momentum going and to back APC candidates across the board, saying the platform is the one that will deliver for Southern Kaduna. He added that Nigerians will see the benefit of the government's economic policies once they mature.
The senator's support for the president comes as the 2027 campaign takes shape. For residents of Kachia, Kafanchan and Manchok, the test will be whether the promised jobs and the light rail arrive before election day.
