The family of late gospel singer Olayemi Bayonle Bolaji, known as Toluwanisings, has signed a peace undertaking after a dispute over where he should be buried, the Oyo State Police Command said on Tuesday.

The singer's wife, Olayemi Elizabeth Damilola, and his father, Muniru Olayemi, were among those who signed at the command headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, according to a statement by police spokesman Ayanlade Olayinka.

The police said the disagreement became a public argument, with allegations of conspiracy and defamation of character raised between the parties.

Commissioner of Police Abimbola Olugbenga invited all sides to the headquarters after the command learned of the dispute on October 28, the statement said.

Under the agreement, the parties promised not to make statements or grant interviews that could stir up tension, and to stop airing the matter on social media, radio, blogs and other platforms.

They also agreed to warn their associates and representatives not to spread such claims.

"All parties agreed to maintain peace and be of good behaviour," the statement said.

The police warned that anyone who breaks the peace would be arrested and prosecuted.

The command urged bloggers and the public to be careful about spreading unverified claims about the singer's death and burial.

Toluwanisings died in Ibadan on October 14 after reportedly slumping. His death sparked controversy over allegations that several hospitals turned him away while efforts were being made to get emergency medical attention.
