  • The Oyo State Police Command brought the family of late gospel singer Toluwanisings together in Ibadan on Tuesday.
  • His wife, Olayemi Elizabeth Damilola, and father, Muniru Olayemi, signed a peace undertaking before the Commissioner of Police.
  • The parties agreed to stop public exchanges and social media posts about the burial dispute and the singer's death.

The Oyo State Police Command has stepped into the dispute over where the late gospel singer Olayemi Bayonle Bolaji, known as Toluwanisings, should be buried. On Tuesday, his wife and his father signed a peace undertaking at the command headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan.

The police said they received reports of the disagreement on October 28, 2026. It had spilled into public exchanges online and in the media, with allegations of conspiracy and defamation of character, according to a statement by the command's spokesperson, Ayanlade Olayinka.

Commissioner of Police Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga invited all parties to the headquarters to stop the matter from escalating.

Who signed, and what they agreed

Those who signed were the singer's wife, Olayemi Elizabeth Damilola; his father, Muniru Olayemi; and friends and associates Oyindamola Esther, Babadunni Gbolabo and Lawal Ademola Rafiu. His personal assistant and other representatives were also present.

Under the undertaking, the parties agreed to keep the peace, avoid anything that could cause a breach of it, and stop public interviews and discussions about the burial and the singer's death.

They also agreed to stop posting or spreading allegations and narratives on social media, radio, blogs and in print, and to make sure their associates and representatives do the same.

The police quoted the commissioner as warning that the agreement must be respected. He said anyone whose actions break the law would be arrested and prosecuted.

The command also asked bloggers, journalists and members of the public to avoid spreading unverified information that could stir up tension again.

Why it matters

Toluwanisings died in Ibadan on October 14, 2026, after reportedly slumping. His death drew wide attention after claims that hospitals turned him away while people tried to get him emergency care.

His personal assistant, Babadunni Gbolabo, alleged that the singer was taken to seven or eight hospitals before he died. The University College Hospital, Ibadan, said it had no record showing he was brought there.

The burial row reportedly centred on his father's wish to bury him at the house he built or beside his late mother in Osun State, which his wife was said to oppose.

For fans and the family, the police action means the argument over his final resting place will now be handled quietly rather than in public.

What happens next

The police did not say where or when the singer will be buried. The parties are expected to honour the undertaking, and the command said any conduct that amounts to a criminal offence will still be handled under the law.
