The gist
  • Toyin Abraham's solicitors issued a cease-and-desist notice dated November 5, 2026.
  • The notice targets bloggers, influencers and social media users spreading unverified claims about her.
  • Abraham shared the notice on X as she promotes her film Bestie, due December 16.

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has moved against online posts she says are damaging her name, with her lawyers sending out a formal warning to bloggers, influencers and other social media users.

The notice, dated November 5, 2026, was signed by Tope Salami of Whitestone Solicitors and Consultancy and shared by Abraham on her X handle on Thursday. It asks the public to stop spreading what it calls untrue and unproven claims about her.

The letter does not name any individual or point to specific posts. It says some people have been putting out statements and allegations about the actress that are false and capable of harming her professional image, personal integrity and goodwill.

What the notice asks

According to the notice, anyone publishing or reposting such material should stop immediately. It also asks people to take down existing posts, videos and comments that contain the claims, and to avoid creating or boosting content meant to mock, harass or attack her reputation.

The lawyers warned that anyone who keeps spreading the claims after receiving the notice could face legal action under existing laws. They added that relevant posts and digital material may be kept as evidence.

Abraham has not said which posts or which people prompted the notice. The letter also urges the public to check facts before publishing anything about her.

This is not the first time the actress has taken formal steps over online abuse. In 2024, she petitioned the cybercrime unit over online abuse and false claims, and at least one social media user, known as Big Ayo, was arrested. Abraham later said she did not order anyone's mother arrested, as had been rumoured, and insisted she was only protecting herself and her family from persistent cyberbullying.

The new warning comes as she pushes promotions for her upcoming cinema film, Bestie, scheduled for nationwide release on December 16, 2026. Her previous cinema release, Oversabi Aunty, crossed the ₦1 billion mark at the box office.

Abraham began acting in the early 2000s and has starred in, produced and directed several films, including the Alakada franchise, Elevator Baby, The Prophetess and Ijakumo: The Born Again Stripper.

What happens next

It is not yet clear whether the lawyers will go to court or file a petition with the police. For now, the notice puts social media users on warning: posts about the actress that cannot be verified may be used against them later.
