- Former Big Brother Naija housemate Ijeoma Emi, known as Mercedes, has publicly asked music executive Don Jazzy to help her secure her own place.
- She said she does not always feel safe or comfortable where she currently lives and is still finding her feet after the show.
- She also said she practises pole dancing on a balcony because her ceiling cannot hold a pole indoors.
Former Big Brother Naija housemate Ijeoma Emi, known to viewers as Mercedes, has made a public appeal to music executive Don Jazzy to help her get a home of her own.
She made the request in a social media post on Sunday, according to Naija News, which reported her message in full.
Mercedes said life after the reality show has not been as easy as people assume. She said she is still trying to rebuild her life and does not see herself as a celebrity.
"I don't always feel safe or comfortable where I currently live," she wrote in the post, adding that having her own space would give her peace of mind and room to focus on her career.
Why she says she needs her own space
Mercedes, who describes herself as a content creator and pole dancer, said she currently trains on a balcony because the ceiling where she lives cannot hold her pole indoors.
She said sun, rain and other weather conditions keep interrupting her practice, and that a place of her own would let her install the pole safely and create content consistently.
In the post, she told Don Jazzy she was not asking for a luxury lifestyle but for a chance to stand on her own feet.
"I know you must receive countless requests, but I hope you can hear the sincerity in mine," she wrote.
For many young Nigerians, the post echoes a familiar problem: finding safe, affordable housing in Lagos and other big cities is hard, even for people who have appeared on national television.
