Relationship therapist and social media personality Blessing Okoro, widely known as Blessing CEO, has issued a public apology in a tearful video, saying she now understands the kind of pain she once spoke about without experience.

In the video posted on Instagram on Tuesday, Okoro wept inside a parked car. She said she had left the house so her mother would not see her in that state.

Her apology comes days after her release on bail in late October and months after the death of her nine-year-old son, Bryan, who died in hospital on June 8 while she was in custody at Kirikiri Correctional Centre, Lagos, over separate fraud allegations.

Okoro said she was sorry for speaking carelessly about pain she had never felt. "I'm so sorry for speaking about the pain I know nothing about," she said, adding that she had realised "talk is cheap" and that actions matter more than words.

She described herself as broken and exhausted, and asked forgiveness from those hurt by her past comments, as well as from supporters and those who had turned away from her.

She compared her return to her family to the biblical prodigal son, saying she was not ashamed to come back home and start afresh.

Mourning Bryan

Okoro also addressed her late son, whom she called Doom Doom, saying she missed him and promised to correct her mistakes.

She said the family was still grieving, and that she and her mother sometimes hid from each other to cry. She mentioned wanting to collect his school bag, uniform, lunchbox and books.

"I'm sorry I wasn't there. I'm sorry I came late," she said.

She said the pain was too much and prayed for divine help to cope with the loss.

Bryan was said to have suffered from chronic asthma and had recurring health challenges from childhood. Okoro was unable to meet her bail conditions at the time and was not present when he died.

She was later released on bail in late October 2026.

Okoro remains popular for her relationship commentary, but her past remarks had drawn criticism. In the video, she acknowledged that her words might have hurt people and said life had taught her a hard lesson.
