  • Comfort Williams, the 10th Miss Taraba, has died, the organisers of the Mr and Miss Taraba pageant said.
  • She was Assistant Managing Director of Prime Planet Event Managers at the time of her death.
  • The cause of death was not disclosed; one outlet said reports linked it to a brief illness, unconfirmed.

Comfort Williams, a former Miss Taraba who later became Assistant Managing Director of the company that runs the Mr and Miss Taraba pageant, has died. Prime Planet Event Managers announced her death in a condolence statement on Monday, November 2, 2026.

The statement was shared on Facebook by the company's Chief Executive Officer, Disebe Donga. It did not say how she died. Leadership reported that some accounts attributed her death to a brief illness, but said this had not been independently confirmed.

Williams was crowned the 10th Miss Taraba in 2023. In January 2026, Prime Planet named a new seven-member leadership team, with Tabitha Adda as Managing Director and Williams as Assistant Managing Director.

A queen remembered for books and charity

In its statement, Prime Planet described her as an important part of its family. "This heartbreaking loss has left us deeply devastated," the company said, adding that her presence, contributions and memories would remain in its heart.

The organisers also said she would be deeply missed and never forgotten, and prayed that her soul would rest in peace.

Leadership reported that Williams was known for humanitarian work. One of her recent projects involved printing and distributing educational books to students, in support of Taraba State's free education policy.

In October 2024, she joined other Taraba pageant winners on a visit to Senator Manu Haruna at the National Assembly in Abuja.

Colleagues and friends in the Taraba creative industry have taken to social media to mourn her, describing her death as a big loss to the community.

For young people in Taraba who follow the pageant, her death is a personal loss: she was one of their own, a homegrown titleholder who moved from the stage into running the competition itself.

What happens next

Prime Planet has not announced funeral arrangements. The company has asked for prayers for her family, friends and loved ones. As of Tuesday morning, no official cause of death had been made public.
