Music producer and Don Jazzy, founder of Mavin Records, has launched a technology scholarship for Nigerians who want to learn digital skills in 2027. He announced the Don Jazzy Tech Scholarship in a video on his X page on Monday, October 26, 2026, saying he is working with TS Academy on the programme.
The scholarship covers up to 100 per cent of tuition fees, depending on the award a student receives. Legit.ng reported that beneficiaries could get up to ₦447,000 off tuition, plus a discount on the application fee. Applicants still pay a reduced application fee, so the scholarship is not entirely free.
Courses on offer include Artificial Intelligence and Automation, Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, Software Development, Digital Marketing, Product Design, Content Creation, Data Science, Virtual Assistance, Project Management, Product Management, DevOps Engineering, Graphics Design, and Frontend and Backend Development. According to the programme's website, most courses are beginner-friendly, so applicants do not need previous tech experience.
Laptops and data support
Beyond tuition, the programme offers practical training, mentorship, internship and job placement support. TS Academy says it is accredited by the American Council of Training and Development.
The sources differ on the laptop and data support. Punch reported that 50 laptops are available for selected beneficiaries and that 500 students may receive data support. Legit.ng reported that Don Jazzy said he would provide 50 laptops and monthly data support for about 100 selected beneficiaries. Both outlets said the help depends on eligibility, genuine need and available resources, and is not guaranteed for everyone.
In the video, Don Jazzy urged Nigerians to value education and skills. He also joked about people who approach him for money for travel, hair or club outings, asking whether that was the purpose. "Education is key," he said.
How to apply
Interested applicants should visit the programme's website and open the application form. They then choose a course, fill in their details, and indicate whether they need a laptop or internet data. After submitting, they should watch the email address and phone number they provided for updates. Those selected will be told about their award and next steps, and will pay the discounted application fee to enrol.
The two outlets gave slightly different web addresses for the portal, so applicants should confirm the correct link through Don Jazzy's verified social media pages before submitting personal details.
Applications for the 2027 intake are open, according to the programme's website, and slots are limited.
