- Returning undergraduates return November 15, and lectures begin November 16, 2026.
Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, has fixed Sunday, November 1, 2026, for the resumption of newly admitted students ahead of the 2026/2027 academic session.
The university's spokesperson, Abiodun Olarewaju, announced the schedule in a statement issued in Osogbo on Monday, according to Punch and Legit.ng.
Online registration for freshers will begin the next day, Monday, November 2, the statement said.
What freshers should expect
Orientation for the new students will hold from Monday, November 2, to Friday, November 6, 2026. The programme is meant to introduce them to the university's academic environment, rules, traditions and expectations, and to help them settle into campus life.
ICT training will follow from Monday, November 9, to Friday, November 13, 2026. It is aimed at giving the students digital skills and getting them used to the online platforms and facilities they will use for their studies.
Returning undergraduate students are to be back on campus on Sunday, November 15, 2026, a day before lectures begin on Monday, November 16.
Why it matters
For families, the dates are a cue to start planning transport, accommodation and school fees, since freshers will arrive in Ile-Ife in under a week. Parents and guardians are being asked to support their children through the transition.
The university urged both fresh and returning students to keep to the schedule so the session can start smoothly.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Simeon Bamire welcomed the students and restated his commitment to an environment that supports teaching, learning, research and character development. He wished them a safe return and a productive session.
Both outlets reported the same dates and activities, with no discrepancies.
