Jimmy Odukoya introduces new wife Mo to Fountain of Life congregation
- Pastor Jimmy Odukoya presented his new wife, Mo Odukoya, to his Ilupeju, Lagos congregation on Sunday.
- Pastor Tunde Bakare, who blessed the marriage in the US, said she is the daughter of Reverend Theophilus and Bolaji Daniel.
- Odukoya, who took over the church after his father's death in 2023, said he had been looking for a suitable partner.
Pastor Jimmy Odukoya, senior pastor of The Fountain of Life Church in Ilupeju, Lagos, introduced his new wife to his congregation during Sunday service on 1 November 2026.
He called her to the altar and presented her for the first time as Pastor Mo Odukoya, describing her as the church's new first lady.
The announcement came days after the cleric, a former Nollywood actor, posted a photograph of two hands wearing rings with the caption "To New Beginnings." The post set off speculation online before Sunday's formal reveal.
How he put it
Speaking about finding a partner, Odukoya said: "I was looking and searching, and I found." He told the congregation that some people had wondered whether his earlier post was artwork, adding: "No, it's my wife."
He said he had remained single since taking over leadership of the church after the death of his father, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, on 7 August 2023, and had now decided to remarry. He cited the biblical principle that it is not good for a man to be alone.
Pastor Tunde Bakare of The Citadel Global Community Church, who blessed the marriage, said the wedding took place in the United States. According to Bakare, the new wife is the daughter of Reverend Theophilus and Bolaji Daniel.
Odukoya was previously married to Kemi Odukoya, and the two share children. Reports of the earlier marriage say the couple wed in London in March 2013.
Why it matters to many Nigerians
Fountain of Life is one of Lagos's better-known Pentecostal churches, and its pulpit carries weight well beyond Ilupeju. The news drew mixed reactions online, with many congratulating the couple while others raised questions about divorce and remarriage in the church.
For members, the practical change is a new first lady alongside a pastor who has led the church since 2023. The sources did not say when the couple would hold any further ceremony in Nigeria.
