- Comedian and actor Debo Adedayo, known as Mr Macaroni, has completed a Master of Arts in Performance (Acting) at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London.
- He announced the result on social media on Wednesday, saying the programme stretched him but helped him grow.
- Fellow actors and comedians, including Uzor Arukwe, AY and Funke Akindele, sent congratulatory messages.
Nigerian actor and comedian Debo Adedayo, widely known as Mr Macaroni, has finished a Master of Arts degree in Performance (Acting) at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London, and he passed with distinction.
He shared the news with his followers on Wednesday, posting on X and Instagram. In the Instagram post he thanked God, his family, friends and supporters for standing by him through the programme.
Adedayo said the course was not easy. "Completing this degree challenged me in so many ways, but I am glad to have embarked on this journey of personal and professional development," he wrote.
Mountview is a drama school in London that trains actors and theatre professionals. The Sun reported that the school is in Peckham.
From skits to the stage
Adedayo is best known for his comedy skits, especially the "Daddy Wa" character, which made him a household name online. He has also appeared in Nollywood films, including Ayinla, Anikulapo, Freedom Way and Lisabi: The Uprising.
The acting master's is not his first training in the United Kingdom. The Sun reported that in 2025 he completed an Advanced Acting for Camera course at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London. He earned his first degree in Theatre Arts and Film Studies from Redeemer's University in 2018.
According to The Sun, he said in May that he had finished the creative project and dissertation for the master's. He said the work looked at how Augusto Boal's Theatre of the Oppressed, combined with Afrocentric performance techniques, could offer ways to resist sociopolitical oppression.
He also made his London stage debut during the programme, playing Lord Commander Thomas Fairfax in Howard Brenton's play 55 Days, staged at Mountview.
Colleagues celebrated him in the comments. Actor Uzor Arukwe wrote, "You outdid yourself, Debo! Congratulations, brother." Comedian AY, who called him his "table tennis school son", wished him more wins, and actress Funke Akindele simply said, "Congratulations, my guy."
For fans who have followed his skits for years, the degree adds a formal acting credential to a career already built on stage and screen work. It also shows that the man behind Daddy Wa has been studying while keeping up his public commentary on social and political issues.
