Skales says Burna Boy once asked Davido for a seat on his private jet
- Skales said Burna Boy called Davido to ask for space on his jet to a Yola show.
- He said the plane was so full that one person sat on the toilet seat.
- Skales said the trip later connected him with international act Major Lazer.
Singer Skales has shared a story about a trip to Yola for a show, saying Burna Boy once asked Davido for a seat on Davido's private jet. Skales, whose real name is John Njeng-Ngeng, spoke in a recent interview that has been widely shared online.
According to Skales, he and Burna Boy were both booked to perform in Yola at the time. Burna Boy then reached out to Davido to ask whether he and his team could travel on the jet. Davido agreed.
Skales said the aircraft was already full. To make room, Davido reportedly asked one of his own team members to travel the following day. Even then, space was so tight that one person had to sit on the toilet seat for the journey, Skales said.
He also said Davido gave up his own seat for him during the flight.
“Burna called Davido and said, ‘Please, can I join their jet?’ Davido said, ‘Why not?’” Skales recalled.
What the trip led to
Skales said that after landing in Yola, he performed alongside Burna Boy. He said the experience eventually connected him with international act Major Lazer, with whom he later made music.
He did not give details of how that meeting happened.
The story paints a picture of how some of Nigeria's biggest music stars moved together earlier in their careers, before their paths went in different directions. Legit.ng noted that at the time of the trip, Burna Boy had not yet reached the global heights he holds today as a Grammy winner.
Burna Boy and Davido have not responded to the claim publicly, and Skales' account has not been independently confirmed.
What happens next
Nothing formal follows from an interview anecdote. Fans will likely keep discussing it online, and it remains to be seen whether Burna Boy or Davido says anything about it.
