Ghanaian actor, comedian and broadcaster Seth Kwame Dzokoto has died after collapsing during a live radio programme in Tarkwa, in Ghana's Western Region. He was 51.
Dzokoto fell ill on Thursday, 22 October 2026, while taking part in a panel discussion on the morning show of Owass FM, according to a statement from the station. He was rushed to a hospital in Tarkwa, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The host of the programme, Prince Kwaw Gyimah, said Dzokoto had driven himself to the station that morning. The discussion began at about 8:45 a.m. before he suddenly became unwell, and the production team suspended the broadcast.
A livestream of the show on the station's Facebook page appeared to capture his final moments. Viewers said he seemed to be struggling to breathe before the camera became unstable and the feed cut off.
The Western Regional Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kirk Mensah, confirmed the death, describing Dzokoto as a comrade of the party.
Owass FM said it was "deeply saddened by this unfortunate incident, which occurred in the course of our regular programming." The station sent condolences to his family, friends and colleagues, and asked the public and media to respect the family's privacy and avoid spreading unverified information.
From Efiewura to the campaign trail
Dzokoto became a household name in Ghana for his role as Judge Koboo in the long-running television series Efiewura. He also hosted Edziban, TV3's food and tourism programme that showcased Ghanaian cuisine and local food businesses, and more recently appeared in the series Osumesi.
His career went beyond the screen. He worked as a radio presenter with Skyy Power FM in Takoradi and Hello FM in Kumasi, and later moved into media management. He was raised mainly by his mother in Sekondi.
In 2016 he contested the Tarkwa-Nsuaem parliamentary seat on the NDC ticket.
His death comes weeks after he publicly dismissed rumours that he had died. Speaking on B.E. TV in September 2026, he said, "I'm not dead," and explained that he had been managing high blood pressure and diabetes and had undergone surgery outside Ghana.
Reports differ on his health in the period before his death. Legit.ng said he had been managing a kidney-related illness, while his own account in September focused on high blood pressure and diabetes. The exact cause of Thursday's collapse has not been officially disclosed.
Tributes poured in on social media, with many fans saying they had noticed signs of ill health in recent weeks.

His family has not yet released an official statement, and funeral arrangements have not been announced.
