SureGifts adds Konga, MedPlus and i-Fitness as redemptions pass 1.3 million
- SureGifts has added Konga, MedPlus and i-Fitness to its merchant network, taking partners past 400.
- Gift card and voucher redemptions on the platform have now passed 1.3 million nationwide.
- The company says employers want rewards staff can spend on everyday needs like food, medicine and electricity.
Nigerian rewards platform SureGifts has added online retailer Konga, pharmacy chain MedPlus and gym operator i-Fitness to its merchant network, the company said this week. The additions push the network past 400 merchants, with gift card and voucher redemptions on the platform now above 1.3 million nationwide.
For everyday Nigerians, the change matters mostly at the point of spending. Many employers hand out gift cards and vouchers as bonuses, festive hampers or staff recognition. The value of such a reward depends on where the recipient can actually use it, and SureGifts says its pitch to companies is exactly that.
The three new partners cover online shopping, healthcare and wellness. They join brands already on the network, including Market Square for groceries, SLOT for electronics, Domino's Pizza for food, Filmhouse Cinemas for entertainment, ORIKI and Swarovski for lifestyle, and Ikeja Electric and Eko Electricity Distribution Company for utilities. Rewards can be redeemed online and in stores.
Why employers care
David Fisayo, managing director of SureGifts, said the first question employers ask is where their people can actually spend the reward. He said the network answers that, whether the money goes on groceries, medication, a flight, a cinema night or an electricity bill.
"Bringing on brands like Konga, MedPlus and i-Fitness makes that answer even stronger," Fisayo said.
Retailers on the network also see a benefit. Cyprian Eneh, corporate sales manager at Sundry Markets Limited, which owns Market Square, said joining SureGifts has driven strong customer footfall to its stores. Olabode Abraham, head of finance at Jendol Superstores, said the platform has brought in first-time shoppers who later became repeat customers.
SureGifts says its own technology handles issuing, distributing, redeeming and reporting rewards across the network. The company, which has operated since 2014, says it serves more than 1,000 corporate clients and has merchants in Nigeria and Kenya.
What happens next
SureGifts says it plans to add more merchants and reward categories in the fourth quarter of the year and beyond. For workers and customers who receive these rewards, that means more places to spend them, though the value of each card still depends on what the employer loads onto it.
