Nigerian relationship commentator Blessing CEO, whose real name is Nkiru Blessing Okoro, says she is no longer dating businessman IVD. She made the announcement in a video on Wednesday, 4 November, while answering fans who asked whether the two were still an item.
According to her, the decision followed repeated appeals from followers who told her the businessman was not good for her. She said she had chosen to move on and rebuild her life.
“Trust me, I have left him. Let me pick up the pieces of my life,” she said in the video.
She also said she was not willing to stay in a relationship she feared could endanger her. “I no fit dey relationship wey go take my life,” she added, without giving details of what she meant.
A public back-and-forth online
The breakup comes after an emotional stretch for the couple on social media. On Tuesday, 3 November, Blessing CEO posted a tearful video recorded inside a parked car, saying she had gone there so her mother would not see her crying. She described herself as broken and mentally drained.
About an hour later, IVD put up a written message on his own Instagram page, addressed to family, friends and business partners. In it, he spoke of five years of struggle, asked for forgiveness from anyone he had hurt and said it was a time to reflect. He did not mention Blessing CEO by name in the post.
Shortly after, Blessing CEO unfollowed IVD on Instagram and took down his photos from her page, a move her followers quickly noticed.
In the new video, she described herself as single and invited interested men to reach her through her direct messages. She added a condition: they should have money. She also said anyone who wanted to date IVD was free to do so.
“We are no longer together. We have broken up. Is that not what you guys want?” she said, adding that she now likes to listen to her fans.
Neither Blessing CEO nor IVD has said anything further about the reasons for the split beyond her video remarks. The two have not commented on what happens next.
